Eligibility for Indian Revenue Service Examination;

The eligibility criteria for IRS is almost the same as for other Group A services. A candidate who wants to become an IRS officer is required to qualify the Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.

A candidate who fulfills the following eligibility criteria is eligible for this exam.

  • Must be a citizen of India.
  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree from a Central, State or Deemed University.
  • A correspondence degree recognized by Govt. of India.
  • A qualification recognized by the Govt. of India at par with any of the above.

 

The following candidates are also eligible for the IRS exam, however, they are required to produce the eligibility proof at the time of examination –

  • Those who have passed the final examination of MBBS degree but have not completed their internship.
  • Those who have passed the final examination of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), ICSI and ICWAI.
  • Those who have a degree from a foreign university recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Age Limit to become IRS Officer

If we talk about the age limit for the Indian Revenue Service Examination, then let us tell you that it is different for different categories of people, for example, for general candidates, this age limit is 21-32 years. Educational Qualification to become an IRS Officer

To become an IRS officer, the candidate must have passed graduation or equivalent from any university, only then the candidate can be eligible for the post of IRS officer, the age of the eligible candidate to become an IRS officer should be at least 21 years and maximum 30 years. Also, as per the government order, there is a relaxation of 3 years for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
