Full Form of BDO


The full form of BDO is "Block Development Officer". The BDO is in charge of the development and activities of the block (the block is a district sub-division). Block Development Office (full form of BDO) looks after the implementation of all the programs related to the planning and development of the block. The full form of BDO is Block Development Officer. A block is generally a nickname for a district sub division. The BDO works closely with the Panchayat Samiti to get the most out of any situation. Additionally, BDO is responsible for the overall development of any block during its tenure. BDOs can also handle the financial needs of the district they are in charge of. All the workers under BDO will directly follow the orders for the development of the area. In addition, every important information is available by BDO to enhance the environment. BDO or Block Development Officer is the official in-charge of the block. The Block Development Officers oversee the planning and implementation of all the programs related to the development of the blocks. The coordination of development and implementation of plans in all the blocks of the district is provided by a Chief Development Officer (CDO). The BDO office is the main operational wing of the government for development administration as well as regulatory administration. The post of BDO is under the state government. Block Development Officer is appointed by the Union Public Service Commission of the state. To become a BDO, one has to pass three level exams. The one who has Graduation degree and age is from 21 to 35 years can apply for this post. This post is of Group B (Gazetted) level. Civil servants working on this post can also become SDO and IAS by getting promotion. According to the new pay scale, the post of BDO comes under Pay-Band-3.

BDO Work

BDO plays a very important role in block development. The main focus of BDO is to work on the development of the block in the right and right manner. The BDOs help in the implementation of the plans and programs approved by the authority. Agriculture, education, stores and distribution of agricultural supplies. Participation in Panchayat Samiti and Gram Sabha meetings, organizing co-operative societies and other supporting agencies. Participation in work programs, Production planning and allied services, Participation in campaigns.

Eligibility Criteria for BDO?

The eligibility criteria for the post of BDO are as follows –

The candidate should be a graduate from a recognized university or institutes.

Candidates from any stream like Arts / Commerce / Science can apply.

Age limit should be between 21-40 years and age relaxation as per norms.

How to prepare for BDO exam?

To be successful in the BDO exam, candidates should know about national and international events, along with information related to history, Indian national movement, geography, Indian politics, social development, general knowledge, environment, etc. To know the current affairs, you have to read the newspaper daily and keep updating your knowledge daily, along with this you also have to do self study daily and mark whatever points you find important, so that you will be able to revise. Educational qualification

If you want to become a Block Development Officer, you have to be a graduate from any recognized college and also you have to be an Indian citizen. And friends, to become a BDO officer you have to get 60% marks in 12th class.

BDO officer age limit and Salary

 BDO means that to become a Block Development Officer, you should be from 21 years to 40 years, if you fall in Sc/Set category, you get five years more, and if you come under Obc category , then you will get three years more comfort. Their monthly salary is according to the pay scale from 9000 to 350000, so this is their monthly income and they get the benefit of many services for which they do not need to pay.
