ITI Full Form


ITI stand for the Industrial Training Institute, It is a government training organization that is responsible for providing industry-related education to high school students. These ITI students basically offer technical information to their students to those students who are just 10th pass. At the same time, some trades can be applied even after 8th standard. In these institute they provide technical knowledge rather than higher education. ITIs are established by the Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGET), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and the Central Government to provide training in various trades. ITI Aspirants will appear in the All India Trade Test after completing the training National Trade Certificate will be issued to the qualified candidate.  The main motive of the ITI is to train their candidate for industry, prepare them for work. To make this possible, ITIs also conduct apprenticeship courses.

Course Duration

ITI provide the trade training programme to their candidate. This course is based on particular sector or skillset. ITI course duration is 6 months to 2 years. Course duration is depending on the what type of course you have chosen and course nature.

Course Type

ITI course is simply divided into the two types. ITI is engineering trades and non-engineering engineering courses are technology focused trades. They mainly concentrate on engineering, science, maths and technology concepts. Usually non-engineering courses are not of technical degree. They focus on languages, soft skills, and other area-specific competencies and expertise.

Eligibility Criteria for ITI

For every course eligibility criteria is different. The main eligibility is the applicant must be pass 10th from a recognized board or equivalent to 10th. The candidate should have secured at least 35 percent aggregate. The age of the candidate should be between 14 to 40 years during the admission period.  

The admission process of ITI

Bothe government and private organization admission process is depend on the merit list. Such institutes conduct a written test to select the eligible candidates. In some private institutes direct mode of admission is considered.
