IPS is known as Indian Police Service. A year after india’s independence, Police service was formed in 1948. It is a top-rated and one of the most prestigious service. UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) examines the IPS services. Candidates can choose any 3 services IAS, IFS, IPS, This exam is held every year. UPSC exam provides maximum 4 attempts in exam. IPS consist many section line Crime Branch and Criminal Investigation Department. Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university is required for applying this post. For Men minimum height required for IPS is 165 cm and for women, it required 150 cm. Candidates who belong to SC/ST and castes like Assamese, Kumaoni, Nagaland tribals, Gorkhas, Garhwalis etc. The minimum height for men is 160 and for the women is 145 cm respectively.

IPS Requirements

Vision: Myopia including cylinders should not exceed minus 4.00D and hypermetropia including cylinders should not exceed plus 4.00D. Candidates with squints are directly ineligible. Glasses are allowed.

Selection process

For the IPS officer service candidate need to be a citizen of India. Candidates have to graduate from a recognized university For IPS officers candidates should apply for the UPSC exam. After that candidates will have to go through UPSC CSE Preliminary Exam. Candidates have to qualify for the preliminary exam after that candidate has to appear in the CSE main exam. After qualifying for the main exam, candidates have to face a personal interview, and candidates are shortlisted on the basis of merit for the marks obtained in the main exam and personal interview.
