The Linux operating system was developed by Linus Torvalds in 1991. Linux is an open-source operating system like other operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac OS, iOS, Google android, etc. Linux was created for personal computers and it was also used in other machines like servers, mainframe computers, supercomputers etc. Linux is a community of open-source Unix-like operating systems that are based on the Linux kernel. Linux is a multitasking operating system and it included virtual memory, shared library, memory management and also included features of the commercial operating system. Linux cannot start working without entering the user name and password in the operating system. Linux provides high security in windows because Linux is open source operating system. Linux is also used in routers, automation controls, television, digital video recorder, smart watches etc.
